Conditioned and controlled environment
The main purpose of the HVAC system is to provide a โconditioned and controlled environmentโ so that a comfortable and safe environment is maintained for the occupants. Conditioned and controlled environment means air being supplied to the different zones are clean, odor free, sustaining the comfort conditions such as temperature and relative humidity and ensuring the proper movement of the air in the premises.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning) systems are used for controlling of ambient environmental conditions and create comfortable indoor environment. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality (IAQ). Following HVAC standard practices and guidelines are very important in the design of medium to large industrial and office buildings.
Major Reasons Why Building HVAC Systems Do Not Perform As Intended
- Ductwork is not reinforced to the proper Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association (SMACNA) pressure classifications.
- Failure to adequately seal ducts; i.e. air inside a supply duct under positive pressure will leak out of the seams or penetrations, causing reduced air flow.
- Failure to understand the need to seal return and exhaust ducts.
- Failure to adequately pressure test ductwork to prove whether or not the duct sealing is effective.
- Failure to understand SMACNA Duct Construction Standards in the fabrication and installation.
- Failure to properly install turning vanes.
- Duct velocities approaching 2500 fpm may create noise and will cause increased pressure drops in fittings and ductwork.
- Drawings with missing dimensional sizes are usually interpreted improperly. Undersized ductwork is usually installed.
- Most specifications and details call for four duct diameters of straight duct before the inlet to a VAV box, but the actual duct drawings do not have sufficient room to allow for this installation.

WAGCM carries out works relating to Medical Chiller systems starting from design to installation & commissioning & maintenance of the same complete with its ducting, refrigerant piping, electrical and control works.
